5WaystoaBeautifulWeddingDaySmile

Since the early Roman times, couples have prized the month of June as the most favorable time to exchange their marriage vows. If you and your betrothed are planning a June wedding this season, you no doubt want everything to be beautiful. That would include your smile—and with the appropriate techniques we can help you make it as bright and attractive as possible.

Here are 5 ways to a more attractive wedding day smile.

Dental Cleaning and Teeth Whitening. A routine dental cleaning right before the ceremony can remove stains and dental plaque that dull your teeth's appearance. For an added level of brightness, we can also whiten your teeth in time for your big day.

Repairing defects with bonding. Do you have a chipped tooth, or a broken or discolored filling? We may be able to repair minor defects like these in a single visit by bonding lifelike dental materials directly to the tooth. We color-match and sculpt these materials so that they blend seamlessly with your natural teeth.

Advanced enhancements. In whatever ways your teeth may be flawed, there are dental solutions to transform your smile. We can correct minor to moderate chips, stains or slight gaps with porcelain veneers that cover the teeth's visible surface. We can cap a viable but unsightly tooth with a life-like crown. Missing teeth? A fixed bridge or dental implants could restore them like new.

Plastic gum surgery. Teeth may be the stars of your smile, but your gums are the supporting cast. Smiles with too much of the gums showing can be corrected through various techniques, including periodontal plastic surgery that reshapes the gums and can help the teeth appear more prominent.

Orthodontics. The original "smile transformer," braces and other orthodontic methods move misaligned teeth to better positions. Not only can orthodontic treatment result in a more attractive appearance, it can improve overall dental health.

You have an array of options for enhancing your wedding day smile, and we're more than happy to help you develop an individualized treatment plan. One caveat, though: some of these techniques could take weeks or months to complete, so don't delay!

If you would like more information about what you can do to have the most attractive smile for your wedding day, please contact us or schedule an appointment for a consultation. All On Four Dental ImplantsTired of dentures which slip and look fake? Or, do you have multiple failing teeth, crowns and numerous old fillings? Have you considered Teeth-in-a-Day from your Fort Myers dentist, Dr. Jay Shartzer? Also called All-on-4 dental implants, these inventive tooth replacements give you the stability and permanence of natural teeth--and the great-looking smile you deserve.

How All-on-4 works

All-on-4 dental implants support full dentures on either the upper or lower arch or even both. Instead of simply setting on top of gum tissue as conventional dentures do, All-on-4 teeth are anchored by titanium implants surgically inserted into the jaw bone. The artificial teeth come equipped with connectors which fasten them to the dental implants.

Why is this system so stable? The answer lies in a process known by scientists and dentists as osseointegration. Human bone melds right to natural titanium metal, the material dental implants are made of. So, when an implant resides in the jaw, the bone wraps right around it, creating a bond similar to that of a natural tooth root and the jaw.

With four implants in place, Dr. Shartzer can place a full denture onto the implants in his Fort Myers office and do so quickly--hence the term, Teeth-in-a-Day. However, complete osseointegration does take time. So, you'll return to Dr. Shartzer several times over a few months to check healing and then, finally, to receive your permanent denture or dentures.

Caring for your new teeth

As the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine maintains, careful oral hygiene is essential for every dental patient. Your hygienist will show you the best way to take care of your appliances, implant sites and gums. Also, you'll come to Implant Dentistry of Fort Myers routinely for check-ups and visits with your hygienist.

As you adjust to your new smile, you'll enjoy clearer speech, easier biting and chewing and personal appearance that's better than you may have thought possible. All things considered, Teeth-in-a-Day from your Fort Myers dentist truly can change your life.

They also function just like your natural teeth. They will never move around, so you can be confident when you eat the foods you love, knowing your dental implants will stay put.

All On Four Dental ImplantsAll-on-4 is an exciting option for replacing missing teeth with minimal dental implants. A full arch or row of replacement teeth can be securely anchored in place with just four dental implants. Another exciting benefit of All-on-4 as a tooth replacement option is that it can be completed in a day versus over the course of several weeks or months, as is the case with other options. At Implant Dentistry of Fort Myers, Dr. Jay Shartzer is your dentist for All on 4 dental implants in Fort Myers, FL.

What is All-On-4?

Four dental implants are all that is needed to hold a full arch of replacement teeth securely in place. Dental implants are sturdy titanium posts that take the place of tooth roots. The posts are inserted into the jawbone through a minor surgical procedure. The posts fuse with the jawbone over time, creating a strong foundation for holding prosthetic teeth in place — just like a natural tooth root. Once the dental implants are in place, custom bridgework or dentures containing your replacement teeth can be permanently attached to the dental implants.

Benefits of All-On-4

There are several benefits to choosing All-on-4 dental implants as your tooth replacement option. The benefits of All on 4 dental implants in Fort Myers include:

  • A full set of teeth can be replaced in just 24 hours
  • Only four dental implants are needed to hold a full row of replacement teeth in place
  • All-on-4 is permanent with no worry about replacement teeth slipping out of place
  • Eliminates the need for dentures and saves time not having to apply dental adhesive daily

Restore your smile with All on 4 dental implants in Fort Myers. In just one day, you can have your complete smile back. To learn more about All-on-4 dental implants, schedule an appointment with Dr. Shartzer by calling Implant Dentistry of Fort Myers at (239) 275-7680.

BaseballsFranciscoLindorShinesasMrSmile

At the first-ever Players Weekend in August 2017, Major League Baseball players wore jerseys with their nicknames on the back. One player — Cleveland Indians shortstop, Francisco Lindor — picked the perfect moniker to express his cheerful, fun-loving nature: “Mr. Smile.” And Lindor gave fans plenty to smile about when he belted a 2-run homer into the stands while wearing his new jersey!

Lindor has explained that he believes smiling is an important part of connecting with fans and teammates alike: “I’ve never been a fan of the guy that makes a great play and then acts like he’s done it 10,000 times — smile, man! We’ve got to enjoy the game.”

We think Lindor is right: Smiling is a great way to generate good will. And it feels great too… as long as you have a smile that’s healthy, and that looks as good as you want it to. But what if you don’t? Here are some things we can do at the dental office to help you enjoy smiling again:

Routine Professional Cleanings & Exams. This is a great place to start on the road toward a healthy, beautiful smile. Even if you are conscientious about brushing and flossing at home, you won’t be able to remove all of the disease-causing dental plaque that can hide beneath the gum line, especially if it has hardened into tartar, but we can do it easily in the office. Then, after a thorough dental exam, we can identify any problems that may be affecting your ability to smile freely, such as tooth decay, gum disease, or cosmetic dental issues.

Cosmetic Dental Treatments. If your oral health is good but your smile is not as bright as you’d like it to be, we can discuss a number of cosmetic dental treatments that can help. These range from conservative procedures such as professional teeth whitening and bonding to more dramatic procedures like porcelain veneers or crowns.

Tooth Replacement. Many people hide their smiles because they are embarrassed by a gap from a missing tooth. That’s a shame, because there are several excellent tooth-replacement options in a variety of price ranges. These include partial and full dentures, bridgework, and dental implants. So don’t let a missing tooth stop you from being Mr. (or Ms.) Smile!
